The Autumn Defense

The Autumn Defense is another Wilco side project. The project main members are John Stirratt (Wilco's Bassist) and Pat Sansone (Wilco's multi-instrumentalist). In the past other members would change from time to time, probably depending on touring etc, as most members are from other bands. Some notable supporters on these albums are, Nels Cline, Glenn Kotche, Andrew Bird, and Jeff Tweedy. But both Stirratt and Sansone would probably take offense to the title of "side project", the term inferes that they put it together in spare time, and not much effort. But they prove the term not to be completely true, as The Autumn Defense has become a full on band, as they have a set number of guys to tour with. I believe their drummer throughout most of their albums, I met at a Alejandro Escovedo concert, as the gentleman was playing the slide guitar for Alejandro. Anyways their sound is complimentary of the sound of the 60's, drawing comparisons to CSNY and The Byrds.

I have a somewhat interesting story of this band. A friend and I were on our way to Louisville to see this band. On the way down we were expected a sizeable turnout so we left fairly early. When we got their, we actually arrived before the bar opened. When it was finally opened, we realized we were the only ones who were there specifically to see the band. This paid off very well for us. While John and Pat were setting up their equipment we were the only one's there. So trying to avoid the whole odd silence, we starting talking to each other about music and what have you. The story really begins, when my friend starting talking about this documentary on The Byrds album Sweetheart Of The Rodeo. This caught Pat's ear, and we all just starting talking music or whatever was politically relevant at the time. We conciously avoided really talking about Wilco, as they had probably heard that nonesense before. These two gentlemen may be the nicest people on earth. They sold their own merch, and conversation between us and them didnt consist of us bothering them. It was equal from both parties. Pat's phone soon errupted and it was Jim James and his crew from MMJ telling Pat they were gonna come catch the show. It was one of the most memerable nights of my life, meeting (in my opinion) some of the most creative and talented people in music. Anyway here are those albums.

This is their second album release. Noteable songs include Written In Snow, Why I'm Like This, and The Answer. http://www.divshare.com/download/2669895-ff2

This is their latest release. It has a more fuller sound, as it incorperates jazz influences. Songs of note Canyon Arrow, Feel You Now, and Criminal. http://www.divshare.com/download/2669938-e6a

I just started listening to the Autumn Defense album which seems good so far. I'm not in agreement with the use of RapidShare, I just spent about 10 minutes wading through all of the ads and different steps to try to download the file and still didn't work. Piece of shit from what I can tell
